There's no coding style requirement, it's only a suggestion.
There are many projects where GNU codings standards don't apply.
Although, AFAIK you must sign a sort of contract where FSF becomes
the copyright holder for your work and you lose any right on it.
In the same contract, you guarantee that your work is entirely
untainted, e.g. you didn't use any other non-free piece of code.
